Akshay Kumar Biography

With his clean cut good looks and his training in martial arts, Akshay Kumar smoothly made a transition from action hero to a romantic hero and then into comedy, keeping movie buffs glued to their seats as they wait for what this Khiladi has to offer next.

Akshay Kumar was born in Amritsar, in a Punjabi family. His father was a government employee.  Kumar was then raised in Delhi before moving to Mumbai where he studied at Don Bosco School and then Guru Nanak Khalsa College. He studied martial arts in Bangkok and worked as a chef. He then came back to Mumbai, where he started teaching martial arts. One of his students recommended him to do modelling and a few modelling assignments later, Kumar was offered a role in the film Deedar (1992) and too as the lead actor!

However, Kumar made his Bollywood acting debut with the 1991 film Saugandh, which was followed by the 1992 thriller, Khiladi. In 1994, his action films Main Khiladi Tu Anari and Mohra which were among the highest grossing films of the year. Later that year, he was seen in Yeh Dillagi which was also a success. During the same year, Kumar also had success with films like Suhaag and the low budget action film Elaan. All these achievements, promoted Kumar as one of the most successful actors of that year.

In 1995, along with his share of unsuccessful movies, Akshay starred in the third film in his Khiladi series, Sabse Bada Khiladi, which proved to be a hit. The fourth successful film with Khiladi in the title was, Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, where Akshay starred opposite Rekha and Raveena Tandon. The film became one of the highest grossing films of the year.

In 1997, Kumar was seen in a supporting role Dil To Pagal Hai. In the same year, he attempted a comedy role with the fifth film in the Khiladi series, Mr. & Mrs. Khiladi; the film failed commercially. All his next Khiladi releases in the following years went on to fail at the box office.

In 1999, Kumar received critical acclaim for his roles in the films Sangharsh and Jaanwar. Then Akshay tried his hand at comedy quite successfully in 2000 with Hera Pheri, which was a laugh riot. His film with Shilpa Shetty and Sunil Shetty, Dhadkan, also was a good performer at the box office. His negative role in Ajnabee (2001) was well received and won him a Filmfare.

The years 2003 to 2006 saw him in Awara Paagal Deewana, Andaaz, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Garam Masala, and the sequel, Phir Hera Pheri.  Apart from his action, comedy and romantic roles, Kumar displayed a flair for dramatic roles in films such as, Aankhen, Bewafaa and Waqt: The Race Against Time.

Akshay Kumar proved himself yet again in 2007 with almost all of his films ending up as hits: Namastey London, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and Welcome. Though his much-hyped film, Tashan failed to do well in 2008, Singh is Kinng did exceptionally well in India and overseas. Akshay has also become a producer. The actor does not charge any remuneration for most of his movies now and rather steps in as a producer and takes a cut in the profit of the film. His company is called Hari Om Entertainment.

In the meantime Akshay also made his foray into television with the show Khatron Ke Khiladi (a franchisee of Fear Factor). In 2010 he hosted another TV show called Master Chef India. However, in the past two years, Akshay’s stardom suffered as the actor saw several of his films flopping one after the other: Kambakkht Ishq, Blue, Action Replayy and Tees Maar Khan.

Kumar’s first release of 2011 is Patiala House. He is currently working on Desi Boyz, Thank You and Joker.

Name :
Brian Lara

Gender :     Male
Date of birth :     May 02, 1969
City :     Port of Spain
State/Region :     Trinidad and Tobago
Country :     Trinidad and Tobago
One of the most outstanding cricketers in the history of the game, Brian Lara was born on 2.5.1969 in Cantaro, Santa Cruz, Trinidad and Tobago. The attractive left-hander owns two most prestigious records in cricket: highest individual score (400 not out) in Tests and highest individual score (501 not out) in first class cricket. As of now, he is also the leading run-getter (11,953) in Test cricket. Having 34 Test centuries under his belt, Lara retired from international cricket after the World Cup 2007 at home in the West Indies. Although Test cricket was always his first choice, Lara still finished with 10,405 runs in One-Day Internationals. He had, however, only limited success as captain of the West Indies mostly due to factionalism and lack of upcoming talents. At the fag end of his career, Lara tried to unite and boost the performance of the team but succeeded only partially.

Lara made both his Test and ODI debut in 1990 against Pakistan. He has the unique distinction of regaining the world record with 400 not out, after Australian opener Matthew Hayden wiped out his earlier record of 375 by scoring 380. Lara is only the second batsman after the great Sir Donald Bradman to score two triple hundreds in Tests.

He has just mesmerized millions of cricket fans across the world by his unique approach to batsmanship. Statistics is only secondary to the manner in which he scored his runs.

Among Lara’s many fantastic knocks, his 277 against the mighty Australians at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1992-93 is acclaimed as one of the best to have been ever played. "The Prince of Port-of-Spain" or simply "The Prince" is the father of an eight-year-old girl named Sydney whom he fathered with Trinidadian journalist and model Leasel Rovedas.

Aamir khan

Aamir khan Biograbhy
Aamir was first introduced as a child artiste in the 1970's hit Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) -- he was the youngest child in the trio. He 'quit' movies and went on to become the state tennis champion for Maharashtra. Aamir also fell in love with the girl next door in the meantime. He proposed to her the day he turned 21, and she accepted. But apparently, there was opposition since she was from a Hindu family and he, from a devout Islamic one. So, they eloped, got married and returned to their homes. Aamir's wife Reena even appears in the song "Papa Kehte Hain" that made him the darling of the nation. From the tremendous success of Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), which was released when he was 23, he has blossomed into India's finest actor. His list of sterling performances include Dil (1990), _Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1990)_, _Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992)_, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Bollywood Dreams (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Ghulam (1998) and Sarfarosh (1999).

His performance in Earth (1998) as the Ice-Candy man has received rave reviews from Indian and International critics. Using classic "method acting", Aamir acts in all genres of Indian films - comedy, action, drama and romance. Though he performs in few films, Aamir Khan is acknowleged today as the most complete Indian actor for his diverse choice of roles and films.

Mini Biography

Aamir khan was born on March 14 1965 in Holy Family Hospital in Bandra, Mumbai in India in a conservative Muslim family which has been part of Hindi Film Industry for a long time. Aamir first came on screen as a child artist in his Uncle Nasir Hussain's production Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973), it was not a real part just a blink and miss appearance in the title song of the film. He again appeared as a child artist in the film Madhoshi (1974). Much later he appeared in the art film Holi (1984)along with his friend and later his director Ashutosh Gowariker, the film also starred Naseeruddin Shah. Subsequently he went on to become the state tennis champion of Maharashtra. Sometime before his debut film Aamir fell in love with a girl in his neighborhood Reena. Since she belonged to a Hindu family and he from devout Muslim family, they faced opposition and therefore they married secretly, later they revealed it to the world after his debut movie as lead Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak(QSQT) as a leading man was released in 1988, the film was a run away success and he achieved instant stardom (the film is now considered a classic of Hindi Cinema)and not only that the film was successful in turning the tide away from action centric violent films to family oriented romantic musical dramas in Hindi Cinema, the luminous example of which are MPK (1989), HAHK (1994) and DDLJ (1995). In his second film Raakh (a small, art film) he did a complete opposite role from the lover boy of his first film, his breakthrough performance in this film bagged him the National Film Award of Special Jury. Afterwards he signed a few not so good films which failed at the box office. In the year 1990 he delivered the biggest grosser of the year in the form of Dil and since then he has not looked back giving several commercial and critical hits, his superlative performances include films like Dil (1990), Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin (1991), Daulat Ki Jung (1992), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander( 1992), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke( 1993), Parampara (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Baazi( 1995), Rangeela (1995), Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Earth(1998), Ghulam (1998), Sarfarosh (1999), Dil Chahta Hai( 2001), Lagaan (2001), Mangal Panday (2005), Fanaa( 2006) and Rang De Basanti (2006).

In 2007 he turned director with the film Taare Zameen Par which not only brought him immense critical acclaim but was a huge box office success. Many of his films are considered as cult classics like QSQT, Lagaan, Dil Chahta Hai, Range De Basanti, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and Andaz Apna Apna. He divorced his first wife in December 2001 and married Kiran Rao in December 2005.

In 2008 his first all out commercial action film Ghajini went on to become the highest grossing film of its time in Indian Cinema and 4th highest inflation adjusted, grossing a total of Rs.226 on the worldwide box office and the first film to cross 100 crores on the domestic Indian box office, making a total of Rs.115 crores. This record didn't last long though when his next release 3 Idiots went on to shatter not only the highest grosser record but many more. It not only made the highest opening first day, first weekend and first week records but subsequently continued to shatters many record on the following weekends and weeks, making many circuits records on the way. It made a total of Rs.202 crore domestically and Rs.400 crores on worldwide box becoming the highest overseas grosser till date, a staggering feat given that no other film has even come close to making Rs.100 crore on the domestic box office till date, except his own Ghajini last year.

Aamir is said to be the actor who first started the trend of actor's working in one film at a time, when the others worked in four or five at the same time. He is also known to shun popular film trade magazine awards like Filmfare, Star Screen etc as he doesn't have trust in their credibility and transparency. Recently he was awarded the third highest civilian honour Padama Bhushan by the government of India.

Aamir Khan, a method actor, his range of characterizations remains unparalleled and because of this diversity and his ability to portray different characters believably on screen, today he is regarded as not only one of the biggest Superstars but also one of the finest actors of Indian Cinema.

Shahid Afridi

Shahid Afridi Biograbhy
Sahibzada Mohammad Shahid Khan Afridi (born 1 March 1980 in Khyber Agency), popularly known as Shahid Afridi is a Pakistani cricketer currently playing for the Pakistani national team. He made his ODI debut on 2 October 1996 against Kenya in Nairobi and his Test debut on 22 October 1998 against Australia at Karachi. He is known for his aggressive batting style, and currently holds the highest career strike rate in the history of international cricket. In a recent survey, Afridi was named as the most popular cricketer in Pakistan. His general style of batting is very aggressive and attack oriented and has earned him the nickname \"Boom Boom Afridi\" for his fastest One Day International century just in 37 balls. As of 22 May 2007, he has an ODI strike rate of 109.38 runs per 100 balls, the highest in the game's history. This attitude has been transferred to Test cricket as well, with Afridi scoring at a relatively high strike rate of 86.13 in Tests. He has an approach to batting that can change the tempo of a game and inspire the mood of an audience, as shown when a mass exodus of spectators occurred in Pakistan in late 2005 following his dismissal from the crease. He hits many sixes long and high, favoring straight down the ground or over midwicket. A trademark shot is a crossbatted flick to the leg-side to a ball outside off stump. This explosive style has led to some memorable shots, most notably the first ever 12 in power cricket in 2002, where Afridi successfully hit the roof. However, his aggressive style increases his risk of getting out and he is one of the most inconsistent batsmen in cricket. This is reflected by the fact that he is the only player to score more than 5000 ODI runs at an average under 25. Bowling-wise, his stock ball is the leg break, but his armory also includes the conventional off break and a 'quicker one' which he can deliver at nearly 80 mph in the style of a medium-pacer. He bowls at a high speed for a spinner, resulting in lesser turn, and relying more on variations in speed. He occasionally sends down a bouncer to a batsmen, which is very rare for a spin bowler
